한 장의 초대에 담긴 이야기
A Note on the Invitations
여러분께 전해드린 청첩장은 서울의 한 인쇄소에서 한국 전통 종이인 한지에 인쇄했습니다. 책갈피로도 간직하실 수 있도록 디자인했습니다.
그림은 한국 미술의 용과 호랑이, 그리고 ‘용호상박(龍虎相搏)’에서 영감을 받았습니다. 용호상박은 힘과 기개가 대등한 두 존재가 맞서는 모습을 뜻하며, 함께 그려진 용과 호랑이는 우주의 균형을 상징합니다.
호랑이띠인 경무와 용띠인 엘렌에게 이 모티프는 저희 두 사람을 담기에 어울리는 상징이었습니다. 소중한 친구 Audrey McGonagle (@audbirds)이 그림을 그려주었습니다.
The invitations you received were printed on Korean traditional paper (한지 / hanji) from a local Seoul printer. The invite is intended to be used as a bookmark! The design is inspired by common pairing in Korean art, as well as the saying “용호상박 / yong-ho-sang-bak,” which describes two equally matched forces meeting one another with strength and spirit. Dragons and Tigers depicted together represent cosmic balance. Jason was born in the Year of the Tiger and Ellen in the Year of the Dragon, so we thought it would be a fitting motif for our wedding! Our friend Audrey McGonagle is the artist who created the design!

For guests arriving from abroad, we recommend Incheon International Airport (ICN). Airport limousine buses, taxis and the Airport Railroad Express (AREX) connect the airport with Seoul.

Getting Around Seoul
Seoul’s extensive subway and bus network makes it easy to explore. The Uber app can request licensed local taxis; the service differs from the private-car rideshare model you may know from Uber or Lyft at home.

Before You Travel
현재 공식 안내에 따르면 미국 여권 소지자에 대한 K-ETA 한시 면제는 2026년 12월 31일까지이며, 2027년 1월 1일부터는 적용 대상 여행자에게 K-ETA가 필요합니다. 2027년 5월 여행을 준비하시면서 공식 K-ETA 사이트에서 본인에게 적용되는 요건과 예외를 확인해 주세요.
미국에서 오시는 분들은 미 국무부의 한국 여행 안내도 확인해 주세요. 다른 국적의 여권으로 여행하시는 분들도 해당 입국 요건을 확인해 주시기 바랍니다.
Current official guidance places the end of the temporary K-ETA exemption for U.S. passport holders on December 31, 2026, with K-ETA required from January 1, 2027 for travelers to whom the requirement applies. As you prepare for May 2027, check the official K-ETA website for your requirements and any applicable exemptions.
Guests traveling from the United States should also review the State Department’s South Korea travel guidance. Guests using other passports should check the entry requirements that apply to their nationality.
